How guides are sourced
Tax facts come from GOV.UK and HMRC guidance only. Each guide links the pages it used and shows the date those sources were last checked. Where a guide compares software, details come from the provider's own website and that product's HMRC listing. If a detail could not be confirmed, the guide says so or leaves it out.
How often guides are reviewed
"Last reviewed" changes only when the sources have been checked again. A typo or other small edit can change "Last updated" without changing the review date. The free MTD software comparison is re-checked monthly during the 2026-27 tax year, and its table date changes only after that re-check.
